Hippocrates was an ancient Greek physician of the Age of Pericles (classical Greece), philosopher, and naturalist and is considered one of the most outstanding figures in the history of medicine. He is referred to as the father of western medicine in recognition of his lasting contributions to the field as the founder of the Hippocratic School of Medicine. This intellectual school revolutionized medicine in ancient Greece, establishing it as a discipline distinct from other fields that it had traditionally been associated with therapy and philosophy, thus establishing medicine as a profession.
It was standing at the foot of this tree that I began to grasp the elemental world within and all around us. It was there that I realized that everything we see in the outer world is but a reflection of our inner world; that we also have a type of tree that exists within us—a spinal column with branches that spread throughout our entire organism, a tree that links us between Heaven and Earth, a tree that is sacred and must be honored so that our days upon our sacred Earth will be healthy, happy, and long.
